City in the United Arab Emirates

Dubai is a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks.

Iconic Burj Al Arab, a sail-shaped hotel, is near the public Jumeirah Beach, a popular stretch of sand. Of the many enormous shopping centres, Dubai Mall has an Olympic-size ice-skating rink, while Mall of the Emirates features the indoor slopes of Ski Dubai. Prestigious international restaurants, and outdoor and building-top nightclubs abound. Traditional gold, spice and textile souks are located around Dubai Creek, where Dubai’s past as a sleepy fishing village is on view in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, a restored quarter of late-1800s houses with wind towers, and at Dubai Museum, housed in the 18th-century Al Fahidi Fort.

Burj Al Arab Jumeirah

The iconic 7 star hotel is a Must See. You might enjoy its view from the adjacent Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Clubs and Souq Madinat. If the exterior looks amazing, you should see the interior. Unfortunately, you have to book a room, a dinner or simply a drink to be allowed to enter. The cheap option is to book a table at the bar located at the top of the hotel where the minimum spending is of 300 AED (70 Euro/USD at current rates) each. Al Manarah restaurant is a superb fine-dining and it is worth a visit if you can allow yourself to spend some 400 Euro/USD each for a scrumptious dinner. Dress code to enter: Elegant.

Desert Safari

A must do in Dubai. Book in advance and a car will pick you up at your hotel, drive in the desert and after some dune-bushing will drop you at a recreated traditional Bedouin camp. Enjoy some food and belly dance, watch the stars and come back home. You might decide to sleep over and leave the subsequent morning. An experience that most of the newcomers and turist love to do.

Miracle Garden

Considering that it is located in a desert area, this garden is really a miracle. It is not a must see, but if you have some hours to kill, it could worth a visit. Flowers beautifully arranged can make your day. Entrance fee: 35 AED. It is open only in winter/spring. Please check online before visiting.

Dubai Fountain

Located between Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Souq Al Bahar, the fountain show is a must see especially at night. Usually shows are scheduled every 30 minutes. The songs played include Thriller of Micheal Jackson, Andrea Bocelli and many other.

Jumeirah Mosque

A piece of art and history open to visitors with a guide explaining the Arab traditions and Muslim customs. Girls are required to wear long sleeves and cover their hair to enter. Proper clothing is available at the entrance of the mosque for those who are "under-dressed".
